✨ We are thrilled to celebrate Sherrie Derry as our next Homegrown Hero! She is a Boone High School alumna from the Class of 1974 who has been making a difference at Boone CSD for over 27 years!
Sherrie's journey started in December 1997, when she was hired to supervise the lunchroom. From there, her role grew to include preparing and serving breakfast, supervising study hall, managing ISS and morning detention, and eventually becoming a one-on-one special education associate. Sherrie has dedicated herself to helping students with various needs, including those with Angelman syndrome, autism, and Down syndrome.
"The students at BHS teach me something new quite often," shared Sherrie. "They have been awesome at helping me learn how to do more things on computers."
Sherrie’s compassion, commitment, and love for the students shine through in everything she does. We are so grateful to have Sherrie as part of our Boone CSD family! 🙌

Scott is a proud Boone alumnus from the Class of 1990 who serves as our Middle School Principal! Scott’s dedication to education and our community runs deep, making him a true Homegrown Hero.

The 5th and 6th Grade Open House will take place on Wednesday, August 21, from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Boone Middle School. The 5th grade parent meeting is scheduled for 5:30pm.
The 7th and 8th Grade Open House will happen on the following day (Thursday, August 22) from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Boone Middle School.

Today, the spotlight shines on our Homegrown Hero, Jed Hammen! 🌟
Jed is a Boone CSD alumnus from the Class of 1998 who's one of our 3rd grade teachers! He also serves as the Head Boys Tennis Coach, Head Freshman Boys Basketball Coach, and Drama Director.
"I’m proud to be back coaching and teaching in my hometown," said Jed. "Boone is an amazing place that means a lot to me!"
His passion for our community and dedication to our students make him a true Homegrown Hero. Thank you, Jed! 🙌


Meet Lauralee Baker, one of our instructional coaches! She is a graduate of the BHS Class of 1994! 🙌
"I actually went to Page and Bryant as an elementary student. Then, I was lucky enough to teach kindergarten at Page and 2nd grade at Bryant," said Lauralee. "I even taught with some of my former teachers!"

REMINDER: 9th Grade Orientation is happening on Monday, August 19!
This event will be held from 5:00 to 6:30pm in the High School Auditorium and Commons. Welcome, incoming freshmen! 🙌

We will be hosting an employment fair in the high school commons on Monday, August 5 from 2:00-6:00pm to fill our open positions for educational associates in all four of our buildings.
Anyone interested in working with students should attend. Principals and HR staff will be on hand to expedite the hiring process.
The first day of work will be Monday, August 19.

Boone Community School District will have a public sale of personal property on Saturday, August 10 from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Page and Lincoln Elementary Schools.
Items for sale include but are not limited to desks, chairs, tables, and other miscellaneous school equipment. Items will be sold as is with no warranties of any kind.
Individuals will be responsible for loading all purchased items and removing from District property on the date of the sale.
The sale will be cash only. Checks and credit cards will not be accepted.
